This is for Facebook users; ie – 99% of the population of EARTH… which is what it seems like. You know, for every person there is on Earth, there is a god damn FAN PAGE.
I’m not saying making random fan pages isn’t fun, I must admit that I have made my share of “Pages”, but they were mainly to prove a point; the point that every person wants to become a fan of anything they think they might like or just thinks it’s funny, like “1,000,000 fans of this will turn Earth into Maltesers”
I’m also not saying the fan pages feature is bad. Becoming a fan of your favorite band or your absolute favorite comic artist, who’s page actually belongs to them, is what it’s meant for. This, compared to “Look how many fucking pages I am a fan of” I mean come on, “Bob became a fan of sleep” “Sarah became a fan of eating food” “Sally became a fan of scratching an itch that was itchy” SHUTUP chances are, most people, if not all of them like these things. Resist the temptation of becoming a fan of something that you see someone else likes too. How many objects, feelings, combinations of these, and places to do them, is there in the world? “Doug became a fan of standing on one leg while looking at the clouds and drinking Sprite”.
Back in the day people used Facebook to socialise, now they just use it to show off to everyone what they had for breakfast, that they are bored, to complain about something (or someone), or to post their high score on FarmAss ™.
Features like this are good if you use them properly, if you become fans of everything (and I pretty much mean that literally), you just look like a simple minded boring person that doesn’t do anything worthwhile.
In conclusion, not everyone cares about what you are fans of, and the people that DO care are just as boring as you make yourself look. Apart from that, people will just think you’re annoying.
Be fans wisely.
Happy Facebooking.
